BIO | JONATHAN CHEQUERS (BA, MA)
My practice is largely abstract/semi-abstract using expressive form and colour. I normally explore a particular theme through a series of works. Through this along with additional study enables me to develop and deepen the theme. This sculptural research is an integral element of my practice. Patination or colouration of my work is vitally important for me.
Throughout my sculpture practice I have always questioned the assumptions around the standard or expected bronze-type colouration of cast work. I believe colour can enhance and bring an additional emotional charge or resonance to the work.

Sculpture has been a passion for many years and found it enlivening. It was also a creative outlet as a balance to my professional work as General Manager of Tobias School of Art & Therapy, East Grinstead, from which I retired in 2020.
